We don't often apply the term "psalmist" to contemporary artists. But in terms of calling, anointing, and motivation, Sean Feucht represents well the modern day psalmist.

His training as a psalmist is impeccable, sitting under the influence of esteemed prophetic worshippers like Jason Upton, Don Potter, and Ray Hughes. It is the Upton influence heard most strongly on Feucht's third offering, the lovely and introspective ..Waiting,.. releasing on December 1st. Many of its tracks move into lush free-flowing worship, Feucht's soft vocals gently dancing around the worshipful refrain. Neil Miller's expressive violin maintains a central voice throughout, and Danny Haven's sparkling piano adds greatly to the beauty. The album is Biblical always, from the opening "Complete" with its gentle programming touches and hushed vocals referencing Psalm 27, to the lush piano-driven refrain of Psalm 136 on "Good"

Just about every track is reflective in tone, and I can't imagine an album more conducive to quiet meditation. The tempo never really picks up until the 8th track, the joyous guitar-driven "You're Real," a celebration of His Presence. Feucht's guitar continues to lead on "My Deep," a calling out to worship, and the closing track, "Alive," is a study in expressiveness, with Miller's vivid violin supporting Feuchts impassioned vocals through a building climax. They move back into free-flowing worship before winding down to pensive quiet, Feucht's last seconds laughing at track's end the perfect ending to this moving and deeply worshipful album. Pick up "Waiting" this December to hear a true psalmist at work.
